Easter on the Costa del Sol 2026

Easter on the Costa del Sol 2026: What’s Happening in La Cala de Mijas and on the Costa del Sol.

It is Easter on the Costa del Sol… and honestly, it feels like we have earned it this year.

Because let’s be real.

We have had more rain this winter than most of us can remember. Weeks of it.

But now…

Blue skies are back. Sun is out. And everything is ridiculously green.

Not the usual dusty hills. Proper lush.

And just in time for Easter.

What’s Open and When This Easter on the Costa del Sol

Quick heads up before you head out.

Across Spain, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday are public holidays.

So expect:

• Smaller shops closed
• Supermarkets open mornings only (roughly until 2pm but do not push it)
• Restaurants and beach bars busy and very much open

Easter Monday is not a holiday. Everything goes back to normal.

We are open Monday if you need us

Semana Santa in Mijas. Still the Showstopper

If you are anywhere near Mijas this weekend, go and see it.

Semana Santa in Mijas

This is the one that stops you mid conversation.

Good Friday evening is the key one
• Candlelit procession through the village
• Quiet, slow, and genuinely moving

No rush. No noise. Just atmosphere.

Easter on the Costa del Sol 2026: What’s Happening in La Cala de Mijas and on the Costa del Sol.

La Cala de Mijas. Where Easter Feels Easy

Then you have La Cala de Mijas.

Different pace completely.

What is actually happening here right now:

• The boardwalk is full from morning to sunset
• Beach bars are back open and busy early
• Long lunches turning into late afternoons
• Kids off school, families out, proper buzz

It is that sweet spot. Warm enough to feel like summer, still relaxed enough to enjoy it.

Fuengirola and Málaga. Bigger, Louder, Worth It

If you want more going on, head into Fuengirola or Málaga.

• Fuengirola brings the energy and crowds
• Málaga is full scale. Proper spectacle

Huge floats, live bands, packed streets all day and night.

Top tip: Get the train from Fuengirola into Málaga. Save yourself the parking nightmare.

Something a Bit Different This Easter on the Costa del Sol

If you want to mix it up a bit this Easter…

Chocolate Workshops at Mayan Monkey Mijas

Still one of the best finds!

• Easter workshops running across the holidays
• Make your own chocolate instead of buying it
• Good for kids. Even better for adults

Easter by the Sea at The Beach House

If your Easter leans more towards long lunches and a glass of something cold…

This is a good shout.

• Beachfront setting
• Live music across the weekend
• Relaxed but still feels like an occasion

Book ahead if you can. These places fill up fast this weekend.

Pop Up Markets and Beachside Vibes

Across La Cala and surrounding areas you will see more of the smaller, local things popping up:

• Artisan stalls and pop up markets
• Street performers and musicians
• Extra buzz along the paseo

Nothing overly organised. Just that natural Easter energy building.

Why It Feels So Busy

And yes, it is busier.

Málaga Costa del Sol Airport is still breaking records, now handling over 22 million passengers a year.

Easter is one of the first big spikes.

More flights. More visitors. More people seeing this area properly for the first time.

The Bit We See Every Year

This is when something shifts for people.

They come for a few days.
They see it properly.
And it stops feeling like a holiday.

It starts feeling like an option.

Before You Head Out

If you are here this weekend, take it in.

Morning in Mijas.
Afternoon in La Cala de Mijas.

That contrast is what gets people.

And If It Gets You Thinking…

No pressure.

But if you do find yourself thinking
“we could do this more often”… or even
“we could live here”…

That thought usually starts right about now.
